Many of the clients who have come to me for massage while they are pregnant have been clients already, understanding how valuable massage is for them anyway.

Sometimes during pregnancy people find their posture changes. They may start to get lower back discomfort due to the extra weight of the baby or how they are carrying themselves. The change in posture can start to affect many areas of the body and this is when massage may be able to help alleviate this.

Clients are massaged from 12 weeks into their pregnancy, side lying using pillows and extra supports where necessary, occasionally someone will want a seated massage instead.

The session is as comfortable as possible.  Specific areas are massaged where there is discomfort and include other muscles that may be working extra hard to compensate. You are shown how valuable and helpful breathing can be to encourage the body to relax.

It is also a wonderful time for clients to rest, relax and feel the magic that is happening within them.

This form and timely massage can help promote relaxation. Emily provides a calming environment enabling time for ‘letting go of' concerns or feelings therefore helping with levels of anxiety.

She will encourage breath work in the moment and to continue with use every day. The massage will be supporting tired muscles which are having to work in a new way, with added weight or posture changes.

As a therapist Emily will help release tension to perhaps allow more freedom of movement.

Many of Emily’s clients have very specific areas they would like worked on such as legs, lower back or neck and shoulders.

The key here is comfort. Emily will ensure her clients are as comfortable as possible with added supports in the way of bolsters or pillows but also how the client would like to receive the massage, for some seated is better and others side-lying to start with.
