Breakfast meetings for All businesses

It’s seven o’clock in the morning as I walk into a room with chatting people around a large table. I am welcomed and received with lots of smiles and a cup of coffee. I first heard about this meeting from a friend on Facebook, it was on a Pershore forum so I thought I would give it a go as a ‘guest’.

Very quickly I was contacted and invited to the meeting. The meeting was two hours in total including a lovely breakfast! I was able to hear from all the people around the table who quickly said what they did for their business and they were all working or living in Pershore.

I have always avoided ‘networking’ groups as I hated the ‘hard sell’ in business. However what I have realised is that most of my clients have come to me through networking, clients will suggest their friends come to see me, that’s a form of networking….

Networking in the Collins dictionary – “is the process of trying to meet new people who might be useful to you in your job, often through social activities.”

I always thought networking groups were all about insurance companies and accountants getting more clients by doing the ‘hard sell’ but it really isn’t.

It seems to be about getting to know the people who run businesses locally and telling others about them. I have a couple of tables in my treatment room that are covered with business cards from local people who I know and can recommend for their specific talents….networking!

So if you have a local business whether it is painting and decorating or a hairdresser you are part of the business community why not join BOB (business over breakfast) or just come meet everyone as a guest and see what you think. You get a lovely breakfast too for £10 and meet some really nice people.
