An Expert

You are an expert of something, think about what that might be. 

You are definitely an expert on you. However sometimes we have self-talk, we have other peoples’ opinions about us, we remember our school reports of what was thought of us then. All these can cloud the real us. The person we have become, the values we now have that may have changed or evolved. 

Some of my clients will have doubts about their ability to do many things correctly or well. Some have little belief in their understanding. Self-esteem and self-confidence for many will be an issue dealt with every day on some level. I know my feeling of self-worth has been one of those topics that have come back to haunt me throughout different stages of my life. 

A way of changing this will be stepping away from you for a bit. Being around nature is a great tool, focusing on the gorgeousness of it and the abundance, even in a plant or single flower. Perhaps getting an alternative view, climbing into that hot air balloon and rising up above yourself to get a broader perspective. Seeing yourself as you would see someone else, look on yourself with compassion, not pity or sadness but compassion and empathy. 

You know what you have been through in your life, many things you will have put out of your mind, you will no longer consciously think of them but they come and remind you subconsciously and may ‘trigger’ you negatively. This happens but it is like rocking a boat, you just need to allow it to settle again and as quickly as possible. 

One of the quickest ways to do this is to change your focus. In my work I suggest saying a few Truths too, this you need to feel within you to be True, not something you try desperately to align to because you know is someone else’s words. 

  • The Truth is it doesn’t have to make me feel this way.

  • The Truth is I am tired and I can feel better. 

  • The Truth is I can change my focus now and think about it when I am in a better place emotionally.

  • The Truth is I don’t want to feel negative so I am going to do something about it. 

  • The Truth is the only thing I can control in life is how I react and how I behave. 

Feel the power in these statements, understand that You are incredible, move the emotion away for a moment to feel better. Sometimes this is all that is needed to allow you to think of the perfect solution and steady that rocking boat. Remember You are Your Expert, no one else can do you as well. Allow yourself to take you where you want to go.
